About Sophia
As an avid outdoors woman with a love for the water and adrenaline, underwater photography just made sense to Sophia. The skills she's learned and experiences she's gained from her current and past hobbies play a large role in her ability to connect with people from different backgrounds, easily breakdown and teach complex ideas, and make her clients feel safe, comfortable, and heard during a photoshoot.

"Northern Mermaid Mara"
Through her online persona, Sophia has practiced fantasy modeling, underwater modeling, social media strategy and content creation. She stays on the cutting edge and is connected within the fantasy photography, mermaid, and fairy community.

The goal of Northern Mermaid Mara's account is to showcase the beauty and increase the visibility of Northern, freshwater mermaiding and free diving.
Free Diving
Using tried and true techniques in the sport of free diving, Sophia has acclimated her body to long breath holds and deeper depths. This skill gives her more time under the water to get the perfect shot.

Sophia and Dora
Teaching & Team Work
Sophia first started teaching in an unconventional way- she taught her horse. Throughout their journey, Sophia learned teamwork, compassion, negotiation, and perseverance. Most of all, she taught herself the how-tos and whys and then broke it down and taught it to her teammate (Dora), and blew the judges out of the water.

Since her showing days are done, she occasionally takes on a student or two. She successfully breaks down and passes down her knowledge to her students.
Modeling Background
Before she became a photographer, Sophia wanted to learn more about modeling to better help pose her clients. In her short stint as an unconventional freelance model, Sophia learned the basics of posing and movement. Now that she's behind the lens, she can break down even the most advanced poses for beginner models by using the foundations.
